Hot-air balloon sculptures unveiled in downtown Hagerstown
Barbara Ingram School for the Arts said each one is a link between school and community
Public art took flight again in Hagerstown Friday when covers flew off 27 hot-air balloon sculptures in University Plaza and along downtown streets.
In one voice, more than about 200 people counted down the unveiling of the unique pieces created to raise money for the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts.
Audience wowed by 'Phantom of the Opera' production
The applause during Act 1 of Barbara Ingram School for the Arts’ “Phantom of the Opera” was no figment of the imagination, nor were the accolades from audience members during intermission Sunday afternoon.
“We’re very blessed and fortunate in Hagerstown to have a high school performance of this quality,” said John Lestitian, who watched the Sunday matinee from a box seat at The Maryland Theatre.
